John Mack and his family are well prepared for disasters. He has been a prepper for a number of years. They have a bunker in their home and an older vehicle to bug out to their cabin in nearby Tennessee. Sure enough, the disaster occurs and this time it is an EMP. John has a conscience which was partially developed by serving overseas in third world countries. As a result of this, he can not morally leave his neighbors without trying to assist them.

This is the story of their neighborhood putting up the best fight they can against a man named Cain and his group of thugs. John sets up various committees which are responsible for certain things. He is in charge of the security aspect. As one might suspect, things get uglier and uglier until an intense battle occurs. You are right in surmising that after this battle, it is time to head for their cabin. And, a surprise awaits them when they arrive!

Found it to be an interesting read with quite a few tips on survival included. One was the water filtration system made from the two 55 gallon drums.

I liked the mix of characters, thought the plot was well written and the ending was just and deserved!

Most highly recommended and a well done to this author for his first book! I also was delighted to find just a couple of errors while reading the book..
